bullet  General Notes:

Some info about Peter from my father's cousin, Paul Webber. Unsubstantiated.

Found the Larson family in the 1880 census, Courtland, Republic Kansas. Page 87A. No wife present - was she already dead?

Also found Larson family in the 1885 Kansas census. At this time Peter was already married to Eliza.

According to a letter (newspaper or book excerpt?) from Paul Webber, he moved to El Campo in 1896; born in Särlöf's Parish, Malmöhus County (today Skåne county)
Maybe Särslöv? Indeed likely Särslöv - Särlöf doesn't seem to exist, but there is a Särslöv Parish in Skåne.

The same article says they immigrated in 1867, but according to the 1880 census all children but Ludvig were born in Sweden; this would mean they immigrated after 1871.

According to the "Larsen Family History" he had a brother who also immigrated to the US.

An excerpt from the "Larsen Family History":

"I remember Grandpa. He was a tall man, and always walked with his hands in back of him. He usually wore his light coat, and a big hat to shade his eyes from the sun. He went around his place, seeing about the animals. He especially loved the horses, and knew every one of them by name. They tell of the time one of them was 'down', and Grandpa knew it would have to be destroyed. It was almost more than he could do, but if it had to be done, he would do it himself, so he hitched up the team, drove into town, got a stiff drink of whiskey, then went home and shot his horse. He was a person to do what he must, even though it hurt him.

"Both Grandpa and Grandma spoke with a Scandinavian accent, and it was Grandpa's delight to try to teach us to speak Swedish. He loved to sing, and we used to stand around his old rocking chair, as he sang 'Dum A Peter' and 'Taw An Egg'. He spend lots of time trying to improve our accent, but somehow we never did quite get the hang of it...We all attended the Swede Methodist Church.
